We are happy to announce that Gmuer Engineering was awarding a continuing services contract with Lake City good for the next 5 years. We are very proud of our working relationship with the City and their needs for infrastructure design and permitting. The University of Florida held their 2019 E-Week events this past February. This event is a fun, week-long celebration that aims to recognize engineers' contribution to modern society through a series of interactive and informative events. Moreover, E-Week underscores the relationship between engineering and all other fields of study, from fine arts and journalism to liberal arts and social sciences. At UF, the Benton Engineering Council and various other student organizations within the Herbert Wertheim College of Engineering host these events that also reach the local community such as E-Fair, a STEM focused science fair.
The Engineers' Week Planning Committee works diligently to put on this week-long event and concluded the week with their Closing Ceremonies at the Reitz Union. They invited Gmuer Engineering’s President, Christopher Gmuer, PE to come speak and offer a unique perspective on his experiences as an engineer and a business owner. The E-Week Closing Ceremonies are attended by the Dean of Engineering, Dr. Cammy Abernathy, event sponsors, E-Week Committee members, and the many organizations that helped make all the events possible. The message of Christopher’s presentation was “Workflow, Hustle, & Culture”.
MathCounts 2019 was a great success and we really want to thank Andrew Roberts for his continued annual leadership, the volunteers, and all the sponsors that help keep this event running each year.

It has been a great year working with our clients on their amazing projects. We enjoyed putting the hard work behind our design talent. We've been all over North Central Florida designing everything from multi-story multi-family site plans, hotel site plans, assisted living facility site plans, office site plans, retail site plans, roadways, miles long water main, schematic budget plans, conceptual plans, and teamed on RFQs for several UF and Santa Fe projects. Thank you to my team here at Gmuer Eng, Donna and Michael, and thank you to our clients who made it possible. This inspired me to make a wish to all of you this year - I hope 2018 brings you quality clients like we have had this year - Merry Christmas!
From all of us at Gmuer Eng,
Paving was almost done at the Hidden Oak Elementary Parking Lot project during the Thanksgiving week. I'm sure it was a good time to avoid school traffic as you bring in asphalt. great job Hipp Construction!
Hidden Oak Elementary School needed to pave an existing overflow parking lot that over the years had gained more use. We helped the facilities department and the school's principal respond to feedback from parents and faculty in order to develop a long term solution. Phase 1 added 76 paved spaces (currently under construction) and addresses the initial paving of the lot, maintaining trees where possible, and providing stormwater treatment in close proximity of the source. Phase 2 is a future phase to revise the flow of morning drop-off and afternoon pick-up. It was great working with this team. Hope to have pictures of the finished project very soon!

The last few months were busy here at GEng with construction projects at Woodbury Row, Hidden Oak Elementary, Martin Orthodontics, City of Newberry, etc - Permitting in Lake City, Gainesville, City of Alachua, Alachua County, FDOT, GRU - RFQs for UF & Santa Fe College - Along with many proposals to many of you... We should be sharing pictures soon!
Joyner Construction did a great job delivering this project in great form and on time. See my previous post to see it at the start. What a great design team. See the Full Project Write-Up and Pictures.
This is the first of two posts for a Jacksonville project we were so happy to design and permit. These pictures are from construction back in September 2016. See post 2 of 2 for the finished site. It was a brownfield project that required great coordination with FDEP to create a stormwater solution that worked as well as being located underground. Crabtree Construction made construction super smooth. They followed the brownfield requirements to the letter.
Joyner Construction is going to make short work of the Chi Omega Building Additions and Courtyard. It was a great design team.
