The University of Florida has several maintenance items and improvements to be completed at and adjacent to the Newins-Ziegler Park. The improvements consisted of 275ft of concrete pedestrian walkway through the park with concrete pads for park benches and trash cans along with a central circular plaza for picnic tables adjacent to the wetland sink and the GREBE Garden for Birds. Two new bus stop shelters were installed and maintenance items included the spot repairs of pavement with root damage and sinking curbs, and a manhole frame that split and was sunken below the pavement. The pedestrian walkway was within the buffer to the wetlands and was permitted with the SJRWMD.
