SSF Gainesville Learning Center

The Southern Scholarship Foundation Gainesville Learning Center consists of the construction of a 2,500 sf accessory building for the purpose of providing additional functional space for programs associated with the existing residential buildings. The project also includes associated modifications to stormwater drainage and landscaping.

Crystal Air Warehouse Expansion

The project proposed a 4,000 sf building addition to serve as a warehouse to the existing office space to better serve the proposed Crystal Air. Being located in the northwest industrial park of Gainesville, the area is known for high water tables and intermittent wetlands. A successful engineering design understands that fill is costly, but a shallow pond is very large consuming valuable real estate. We completed site plan permitting with the City of Gainesville and the St Johns River Water Management District.

Archer Automotive Expansion

Archer Automotive need to grow and expand to include an adjacent parcel. This required the relocation of the stormwater facility further to the rear to allow for additional impervious to be constructed behind the existing building in the future. GmuerEng designed the site plan, permitted the site plan with the City of Archer and the Suwannee River Water Management District.

SSF Parking Lot Expansion

Southern Scholarship Foundation Parking Lot Expansion increased the parking from 19 existing spaces to 38; doubling the capacity. Stormwater was placed in underground chambers and was constructed during the summer of 2019.

UF IFAS Live Oak Equipment Storage Building

UF IFAS has facilities around the state that GmuerEng provides engineering plans and permitting for expansions, maintenance, and new facilities. The Live Oak facility needed a storage facility and workroom for farm implements, tractors, and the prep associated with their use. GmuerEng permitted the plan with the SRWMD and provided site plans for construction.

Farm Bureau Insurance City of Alachua

The Farm Bureau in the City of Alachua wanted to relocate to the Alachua Publix Marketplace with a new building, parking lot, and a large grassed area for community events. The site is located north of the retail strip containing Hungry Howie’s. Gmuer Engineering was happy to design the site plan, permit the site plan with regulatory agencies (City of Alachua, Suwannee River Water Management District) and supply site plans for construction.

SE 5th Ave Striping Plan

The success of Depot Park has been extraordinary with events bringing the whole City to the park to enjoy the facility and the spectacular pop up entertainment. The influx into this historically industrial area of the City meant that we now needed to consider the active right-of-way use by the community instead of just transportation. To facilitate these events, Gmuer Engineering prepared a re-striping plan for the CRA that would be put into effect Public Works following their repaving of the SE 5th Ave. The before and after was amazing.

Lake City Hotels Master Plan

The US90 exit of I-75 in Lake City is a great location for hospitality businesses that are oriented to serve the highway traveler. From college football games to the staging of emergency responders, this area serves a critical role for local attractions and the infrastructure of our state. Gmuer Engineering evaluated a 20.67 acre property that consisted of wetlands and a former RV park with gas station. An existing wet stormwater pond was also located on the site that was serving the adjacent Holiday Inn and Ruby Tuesday and mainly served as the source of fill for the construction of those previous developments. The goal of the master plan was to enable the site to prominently accommodate three major brand hotels, two restaurants, pools and amenities for the hotels, major road connections, internal circulation, and future capacity for a potential multi-family development. To achieve this goal, Gmuer Engineering consolidated the stormwater facilities to the rear of the site and master planned all the associated infrastructure including stormwater conveyance, sewer infrastructure to each out parcel, multi-sourced fire protection and potable water network, interconnections to adjacent developments, and driveway connection to US90. This increased the efficiency of infrastructure outlays while not over building; following a JIT philosophy. GmuerEng provided the land planning, civil engineering, master plan design, master plan permitting, and construction services for this project.
